Background
The National Roma Youth Association of Sweden was founded in 2000 as an independent national organisation for Roma children and youth in Sweden. National Roma Youth Association of Sweden is a non- political and non- religious organisation with activities throughout entire Sweden.
National Roma Youth Association of Sweden is a highly acclaimed organisation and collaborates with a large number of authorities and other non-profit organisations.
National Roma Youth Association of Sweden’s main goal is to strengthen the development of Roma children and youth, and create new conditions for them in the future.
National Roma Youth Association of Sweden is the only national organisation for Roma children and teenagers, and acts as a voice for thousands of Roma children and teenagers who are otherwise often never heard. Since it’s establishment the National Roma Youth Association of Sweden has continued to grow constantly in the number of members as well as in associations, which shows that the National Roma Youth Association of Sweden is an important part of the Roma children’s and teenagers’ development for the future. National Roma Youth Association of Sweden currently has 20 member’s associations with activities throughout all of Sweden.

The Roma Youth Association is a non-political , non - religious and non-profit association founded to work for the roma youths participation in the society. The association was founded in 2000 and works today with roma youths all over the country.
In 2001 the Roma Youth Association founded the first national roma youth council in Sweden. The roma youth councils purpose is to work with ideas and proposals that comes from the roma youths. The idea is that every major city in Sweden will have a representative in the roma youth council so that the roma youths can have a direct contact with their representative. The council is open for all roma youths and the council also plans to hold meetings in several cities to spread information about the council and also give the roma youths of Sweden a opportunity to present their own ideas or proposals for a better situation for the roma youths. The council has it´s own board of directors with a chairman , a secretary and so on and at the last meeting in January 26th 2002 the council decided to make this website. The roma youth council also has it´s own chat were even the public is welcome to present ideas that the council can work with. The council creates a working material of the ideas sent in to the council and presents them to the board of directors of the Roma Youth Association.
